Privacy Policy
This policy describes how Noteara (“we”, “the product”) handles information when you use our website (noteara.com), web app, and mobile apps. By using Noteara, you agree to this policy.
1. Summary
- Noteara is built offline-first on devices: your notes, drawings, and files are stored on your device by default.
- The optional AI assistant only runs when you use it and needs the network; it sends the content described in AI assistant and model processing below.
- We only use the permissions below when a feature needs them (you may be prompted by the system).
- We do not sell your personal data.
2. Permissions we use (Android & iOS apps)
Network (Internet)
- Why: Lets the app reach the network when you use features that need it—for example the AI assistant, loading optional marketplace templates, previews, or other online content you choose, and general connectivity the OS requires.
- Data: Requests go to the servers and domains configured for your app build (for production, typically noteara.com services such as API and CDN). We do not use the network to read unrelated personal data from your device.
Camera
- Why: To capture photos you insert onto your boards or notes (for example when you choose “camera” instead of the gallery).
- Data: Images are handled in the app for your workspace; they are not uploaded to our servers unless you use a feature that explicitly sends content to a service you control or connect.
Microphone
- Why: To record audio you attach to your boards or notes (voice clips associated with your content).
- Data: Recordings are stored as part of your local content unless you export or sync them through a flow you initiate.
Photos / media
On some devices or OS versions, picking images from your library may use photo library or storage access provided by the system or system picker. Noteara uses this only so you can choose images to place on your canvas or in your notes—not to scan your whole library.
3. Website & web app
When you browse noteara.com or use the Noteara web app, standard connection and security data (such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps) may be processed like typical websites and hosted services, as needed to operate and secure the service. Use the contact below for questions.
4. AI assistant and model processing
- Optional feature. The AI assistant helps you organize notes and chat in context about what you’re working on. It is not required for core local note-taking, drawing, or storage. If you do not use it, we do not send your content for AI processing.
- When you use it. Each request is user-initiated (for example you send a message or run an in-editor command). The app needs an internet connection.
- What may be sent to Noteara’s services. To generate a reply, the app may transmit: your message (prompt) and recent turns from that chat session; context tied to the page or note you have open—such as a plain-text snapshot of the note, its title, and identifiers the app uses to associate the request with your workspace; and images or audio you explicitly attach to the conversation, encoded for transport so the model can take them into account.
- Model providers. Our servers may forward all or part of that payload to third-party AI or cloud providers we use to produce responses. Those providers process the content to deliver the feature (not for their own unrelated purposes beyond what their policies and our arrangements describe).
- Logs and reliability. Like other API traffic, AI requests may appear in server logs or operational systems for a limited time as needed for security, abuse prevention, debugging, and running the service. We do not use this information to sell personal data or for third-party advertising.
- Accuracy. AI output can be incorrect, incomplete, or inappropriate. You should review anything important before relying on it.
- Sign-in. If AI features require or work with authentication in your build, account-related identifiers may be processed like other signed-in API usage.
5. Data stored on your device
Notes, drawings, thumbnails, imported files, and similar content are stored locally on your phone, tablet, or computer where the product stores them. You are responsible for device security (passcode, backups). Uninstalling the app may delete local data depending on platform behavior.
6. Account and cloud features
Core use of Noteara does not require an account for local creation and storage. If you use sign-in, sync, cloud backup, or marketplace features, those flows will be described in-product and may involve additional terms.
7. Children's privacy
Noteara is a creative workspace—drawing, handwriting, notes, and school-friendly layouts—so it is suitable for students and families as well as adults. Parents and guardians should decide whether the app is appropriate for minors in their household and supervise use (including camera, microphone, and online features) as you would with any creative or school tool.
The core product stores work on your device and does not require an account for local use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for advertising or unrelated profiling. If you enable features that send data online (for example the AI assistant, marketplace templates, or future sign-in), those flows follow the same principles described elsewhere in this policy—including section 4 for AI.
If you believe we have received information from a child in a way that concerns you, contact us using the details in Contact below.
8. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the product after changes means you accept the updated policy.
